Our Experienced Music Teachers
All of School of Rock Towson’s music teachers are experienced musicians devoted to helping students attain musical proficiency. Our instructors guide students one-on-one to personalize learning, inspire confidence and build social skills.
Rachel
Music Director
Rachel is a show director, voice instructor, touring heavy metal singer, and our Music Director with a passion for music and education. Born in Hagerstown, Maryland, Rachel began her vocal journey at a young age, training privately in contemporary vocal techniques for over 11 years.
Rachel has been in the School of Rock community since 2014. As a voice instructor, Rachel has had the privilege of working with top-tier clients, including Joel O'Keeffe of Airbourne, and has contributed to School of Rock’s Summerfest appearances.
In addition to her teaching career, Rachel is the singer of Graveshadow, a metal band that has toured extensively, nationally and internationally. Graveshadow has shared stages with artists like Burning Witches, Tarja Turunen, Sirenia, Anvil, and more, showcasing their unique brand of power metal meets melodeath on some of the biggest stages in the metal scene.
Adanna
Studio Coordinator
Adanna is a proud School of Rock alum and a master product designer with a deep passion for music and creativity. Having experienced the transformative power of music education firsthand, she is excited to bring her enthusiasm and expertise to School of Rock Towson. Adanna is dedicated to fostering a vibrant community where students can explore their musical talents while building confidence and creativity. Through her unique blend of design skills and musical experience, she aims to inspire the next generation of musicians and cultivate a strong, supportive environment for all.
Ben
Drum Teacher
Ben is a drum instructor at School of Rock Towson with over 25 years of experience playing music. He’s been involved in the Baltimore music scene for over 20 years, playing shows across the city and touring across half the country. He hopes to inspire his students through his passion and enthusiasm for playing music, helping them reach their musical goals and cultivate a lifelong love of playing music.
Matty
Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Drum Teacher
Matt is a versatile musician skilled in guitar, bass, and drums, specializing in rock and country genres; currently a touring guitarist for John Paycheck. He brings an energetic, driven approach to the stage and to teaching, seamlessly switching between instruments to create dynamic and memorable shows and lessons. His ability to quickly replicate any musical piece—whether it’s a country ballad, rock solo, or tight rhythm section—allows him to adapt to various styles and collaborate effectively with other musicians. In addition to performing, he has years of experience teaching and mentoring aspiring musicians, helping them develop their skills while fostering a passion for music.
Adam
Drums Teacher
Adam is a drummer/percussionist working in Baltimore, MD. He has been playing/touring internationally in extreme metal and punk bands since 2012, interrupted by pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Percussion Performance from 2017-2022. He studied at UMBC under Tom Goldstein, who was himself a student of legendary symphonic percussion Buster Bailey. While studying, Adam focused on contemporary classical music, by composers such as Elliot Carter, Stuart Saunders Smith, and John Cage.
His favorite bands are Yowie, Grand Ulena, and Behold The Arctopus. Adam is passionate about teaching diverse styles of music and encouraging students at School of Rock Towson to expand their concept of what they are artistically capable of.
Max
Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher
Max is a guitar and bass guitar teacher at School of Rock Baltimore with over a decade of playing experience. A former student of the school himself, Max brings a unique perspective to his teaching, understanding firsthand what it’s like to grow as a musician in the School of Rock environment.
Currently an active member of several bands—including Combat, a touring act signed to Counter Intuitive Records—Max has extensive experience with live performance and collaboration in group settings. Deeply rooted in the Baltimore DIY music scene, he is passionate about inspiring students to discover the excitement of learning an instrument and the transformative power of performing live.
